Congratz! the jeep looks to be in great shape! Power steering you will have to do some minor chopping of the front cross member, hope you are ok with that?

nice jeep - how much did you pay for it. I am in Ahmedabad in the first week of May and hope to meet you and many other Team-bhp members. I have to visit my native place for the customary mundan of my son who will now be 3 yr old. Damn how I want a 4X4 to visit few of the location within my native place in Kutch Lakhpat.

So finally its here Ramky! Congratulations.

Was waiting for you to buy a Jeep and then share the secret but I guess someone's already done that here. "Your troubles begin now"

Finally after the calls/discussions/emails/Excel/TD process we have a new Jeeper in Ahmedabad!

Look forward to Monday!

Cheers,
Adi

Hehehehe welcome to "S-M" Owners club!

Cryptic one liner to go along with flavour of owning the Beast. Yes you will become 3/4th mechanic as some one has very well put it. I doubt long distance would be a good idea in this even after A/C and PS.

OTOH you will get tons of fun going off the beaten tracks!

Lastly - Please take out those four "extra" lights from the bonnet.

Ramky, what a pleasant surprise. Congrats for this jeep and by the looks of it this looks to be in good shape. I am sure you will enjoy the ownership experience and the 'highs/lows' that will come along with it.

As others have also mentioned, 'the trouble starts now' and life will never be the same again

PS: How about a GQ drive in this one? :-)

Congrats on the Jeep!

I've temporarily moved your thread to the Assembly Line Section (More Information about this sub-forum (The "Assembly Line" Forum section)).

Please note that Team-BHP does not permit booking / buying experience threads in the Test-Drives section anymore. For the benefit of members & guests alike, it is now imperative to include a complete report on the car. To know more about this rule, and for review guidelines, view this announcement.

Why not add more about your Jeep in the opening post? The buying experience, how she is to drive, what all you plan on doing etc. Please edit the opening post of this thread and update with a complete driving & ownership report. Pics would be great too! You have the ability to EDIT your post over an indefinite period of time; add more attachments / content / posts to your work-in-progress review thread at your own pace.

Once your thread is complete, you may report the post (Report Posts : Contribute in Maintaining Team-BHP's post quality), and a Team-BHP Moderator will move your thread out to the public forum.

NOTE : After your thread has been taken public, you are permitted to bump it up once to bring it amongst the new post listings.

Thanks for the support!

Congrats! Saw the ad for this jeep some time ago and the specs do look imopressive. Getting a single owner XDB with 5 speed gearbox at this price is a great deal IMHO. Best part is this is not an army disposal or so called 'ex-army' vehicle rather a running civilian model. So you won't have to go through the painful 'rebuild' process. Also, with some care taken for the basic systems, this jeep is going to be far more reliable.
Looks like your jeep has the MRCBT type of steering assembly (not sure though without the pic) which is like a semi-PS for people like us who drove with older gen steering systems. But coming from a Scorpio experience, the steering is bound to be troublesome for you. An older Bolero type PS assembly will cost around 45-50k with brand new components IIRC the information in the forum. 4x4addict has probably done it.
For AC purpose you can change to the Bolero/Thar type dash. Attaching two pics here, taken from RedMM340's thread on his 550, the most practical 550 i have seen in the forum so far. Note he hasn't changed the dash for installing AC.
