Default accident in North carolina, one of my colleagues involved

moral of the story, don't swerve, unless it's a rock you are trying to avoid. Even if he had crashed into the merging car (remote possibility), he would have a damaged car, nothing more.

Let the crumple zones do their work.

Two in critical condition after wreck

JOURNAL STAFF AND WIRE REPORT

YADKINVILLE — A one-car wreck on Interstate 77 yesterday left two people in

critical condition and closed the northbound lanes for more than an hour,

the N.C. Highway Patrol said.

A family from Broadview Heights, Ohio, was heading south on I-77 near U.S.

421 in Yadkin County when the driver, Christy Xavier Danius, 30, lost

control about 2:50 p.m., Trooper Daniel Moxley said.

Danius said he swerved to avoid hitting a car that merged in front of him,

Moxley said. Danius’ car rolled over, went over a cable median and landed

in the northbound lanes.

Danius did not have serious injuries, but his wife, Smalin Jenita, 23, and

sister, Leema Pillai, 34, were flown to Wake Forest University Baptist

Medical Center in Winston-Salem with critical injuries, Moxley said.

Danius’ parents were also injured, but their injuries were not

life-threatening, Moxley said. They were identified as Michael Xavier, 66,

and Chellam Xavier, 56.
