Exclamation Getz Prime 1.1 GLE: 1000 KM Review

About four months back I started hunting for my first car.
After much deliberation i settled for the Getz prime GLE.The car has been with me for almost 2 months now
I am no expert but trying to put my two pence together.

Lets try to see how the car fairs on some important parameters in no specific order (My take )

The Looks

I am sure most would agree with me when I say that the looks of a car is one of the most important criteria’s in selecting a car. For me the Getz has the looks and probably the most sexy behinds among mid priced hatches available in India (leave the SRV).

The Space

The Getz has loads of space both in the front and at the back.
There is ample boot space available for those long trips.

Gear Box

Gear shifting is an absolute dream (much has been said about this in the forum).

Driving Pleasure

This is where the car becomes a mixed bag.

Scenario 1: AC OFF

The car is easy to maneuver and does a good job in Bangalore traffic.
Car seems adequately powered though frequent gear changing is required.

Scenario 2: AC ON

Now we start to have problems.
This is now a completely different car, it is lethargic and the power drop is so severe that one can sometimes go crazy.
Even in first gear the car refuses to chug along. Hectic gear shifting is required to maneuver through Bangalore traffic.

Steering

Steering is effortless making the car quite easy and effortless to drive.
The car comes with a tilt steering column giving you the flexibility to adjust as per your comfort.

AC

Nothing to write home about. Its the same capacity as the santro and given the bigger size of Getz struggles to cool.

Cabin Noise

The car is very silent almost '0' cabin noise.

Fuel Efficiency

Till date the car is returning ~11.5 KMPL in city with 50% AC and ~16 on Highway with 80% AC.
These figures were take before the first servicing.

Ground Clearance

Spot of bother as it is approx 166mm, though I have never faced any problems.

Build Quality

The car is quite well built.
Hyundai has done a good job with the interiors as well, the seats are comfortable and there are lots of handy compartments here and there to keep your stuff.

The one thing I like most about the car

The instrument panel. it looks killer and is very practical (Design, placement).

The one thing I absolutely hate about the car

The footwear. 155/80.R13 doesn’t do justice to the size of the car.

There you go I have summed up my car.I hope this would be useful for someone considering a new buy.

Cheers
