I think you need to check whether your Catalytic converter (in silencer) is getting overheated. Usually if there unburned fuel coming out of the exhaust, due to misfiring or a rich mixture. The unburned fuel kind of afterburns inside the catalytic converter. This causes the silencer tunnel below your gearshift to heat up, and ineffect your grearshift is becoming hot. You can confirm this by looking below your car when the gearshift becomes hot, the silencer below that area sometimes becomes red hot.
IMHO this is not a normal vtec problem. Also I dont think the gearbox is getting overheated. You can confirm the gearbox temp by opening the bonnet and measuring the temp on gearbox casing. |
