Hai TBHpers,

From Tanjore, did the Navagraha and temple circuit for 2 days, about 320 KMS per day. Without a guide it's not possible to cover the Navagraha temples in 2 days. The roads surfaces are OK, except near Velankanni, the section where the East Coast road is being made.

From Tanjore we drove to Rameswaram, stayed for 2 days, the road was OK 80% of the way, surface smooth. At Rameswaram we had to hire a jeep to go to the end of the land on a 4WD jeep, it was one great off roading experience through sand, sand dunes and slushy sea shores for 11 kms, reached the end of the land, from there its 18 kms to Sri Lanka. Great photos coming up later once I sit down and do the logs.

Today from Rameswaram reached Terubdur, had to take the Arupukottai, Tutocorin road, 100 KMS more than the costal road, well worth the effort. The surface was very smooth and we could do the distance of 260 kms in 5 hours even with the road widening going on and traffic bottlenecks in some places. The costal road from Rameswaram to Terichendur is non-existant, very bad, advise not to take it.
