You have not seen any proof because none exists. i have always said that if you have access to 99.9% dry compressed air then you dont need nitrogen.
The second side of the coin is that the compressed air available in our petrol bunks is always loaded with moisture as they do not see it fit to use an air dryer along with the compressor. They just use a small air filter and think that it is enough for drying the air.
Nitrogen that is available over here is relatively dry when compared to the above mentioned compressed air. Hence it make a very small amount of difference.
I use dry air and find it much better than nitrogen. But not everybody has access to dry air.
