This should be easy to determine. You see, Wheel Alignment is a cheap process & does not take much time compared to even minor suspension work. So, I would suggest get the wheel alignment done from a good shop (I'm sure one of the Cal members can point you towards one) and see if the problems gets solved, if not then go in for whatever minor suspension work has to be done. I think that he probably wants to change the Tie-Rod ends on your car but before giving the car in for the work, make sure you understand what all they are going to change on the car. And yes, if the Mechanic is experienced & trust worthy then there is no problem getting the work done from outside the A.S.S.
