Suzuki Samurai is called Maruti Gypsy in India, so no comparison please.
I have driven the GV over 3200Kms so far on most possible conditions, even moderate off-roading conditions, with the only exception of 4 lane highway/expressways. I don't think your in-laws will push it more than that. It is supremely composed on-road and off-road, I have taken twisting roads at 100+ kmph and it was glued to the road. We are talking about a very capable machine here.
Only cons are low FE and low torque.
