I believe the application of grease or glycerine stops the noise but could cause increased belt slippage. Are you sure that is a good idea?

I have a 2002 Indica and have come to live with the occassional belt noise that comes and goes on its own. Belt tightening during service works but the noise starts in a few days again without fail .
