But environmental concerns still don't prevent people in the US and Canada from buying huge V6 and V8 SUVs and pick-ups. If you live by a lake, sea or river and like sailing/boating owning one of those big gas-guzzlers is de rigueur. How else are you going to tow your boat to the water? A Civic or Accord won't cut it, I assure you! It's the same with those who like camping. You need powerful vehicles to go up mountains fully loaded up.
My point is: There is a certain type of customer who needs 4x4 traction and extra power. It's criminal for those who don't need it, buying these things to make up for a lack of size elsewhere

. The car companies make vehicles that people want and buy. That vindicates their decision to make them. There has to be a radical shift in lifestyle, especially in the West, if we are going to make any headway in saving the planet.
