Tyre sidewall can get damaged with low pressure. And your theory on engine taking the beating coz of higher air pressure doesnt work for me.
See at the end of the day, if you are happy with the car at 30 psi, run that. For me after experimenting 34-32 gives the best performance based on my taste.
