And these morons do not even know that this is issue not unique to BB.

What happens if you configure Gmail's POP/ IMAP account in your Nokia phone? Even in that case communication between phone and server is encrypted and can't be intercepted by telecom company/govt.

IMHO its just a ploy to get some $$$$ from RIM/Airtel/Vodaphone under the table.

And anyone can setup their own email server in US for just $2 a month and enable encryption for POP or IMAP.
