That depends you know...now as Yamaha is trying to portray the R15 as a premium 150cc Sporty bike I would say 6 gears does make sense.1stly the bike as most people claim is going to redline at 10500rpm which is pretty high indeed for a 150cc considering that none of the current stock of Indian (air-cooled) bikes dare to go beyond 8000-8500rpm mark.
