Friends,
So this Sunday on 30th March, my truck went under the surgeon's knife. One can of STP engine flush was put before taking it to the garage. The details:
Year & Model: 2004 GLx
Kms done: 67192
STP Engine Flush - Rs. 250/-
6.5 Ltrs of Mobil Delvac MX 15W40W - Rs. 1180/-
Diesel Filters MICO Bosch - Rs. 130/-
Elofic Oil Filter - Rs. 90/-
Main Fan Belt & Fenner PS belt - Rs. 440/-
KBX rear brake shoes - was purchased a few months back
Greasing, Washing, Labour,
DOT 4 Brake oil, Battery water,
Golden cruiser coolant 3 ltrs,
Gear & Diff oil top-up - Rs. 1000/-
TOTAL - Rs. 3090/-
The truck was given at 10 in the morning & I got it back all spick &
span at 2:30. Also wanted to change the timing chain but was informed
that the timing chain system started coming from 2006 onwards and prior
to that the vehicles had timing gears that last upto nearly 300000 Kms.
The green Cotton filter was given an air blast and the amount of dust
that it threw out was amazing. The filter will go for a proper
cleaning to Autopsyche very shortly.
Truck purring nicely and pick-up seems to have increased. Could be
psychological as well..:-)
Prior to service the mileage extracted was between 12 to 14.6 with &
without AC. Will report the aftermath, when I calculate..
When the vehicle was ramped up it was also found that the engine mounts had gone weak resulting in engine vibration and a big shudder while switching off.
I got the engine mounts changed on April 2nd. Wheeled in at 10:00 am and wheeled out at 11:00 am. Since the garage where I go, doesn't have a pit, the engine was lifted by jacking up and then putting tripod stands underneath. The olde mounts were removed one-by-one and replaced with the new ones.
Regarding the condition of the older ones, the less said the better. One picture is worth thousand words.
The cost breakdown:
Pair of VIR engine mounts - Rs. 650/-
Labour - Rs. 200/-
TOTAL - Rs. 850/-
Old Mounts
Old Mounts - other side
New & Old Mounts - for comparison
