You can also buy a diesel from a PSU outlet - I have a Verna diesel that I used to fill from Shell earlier at about Rs 36 when Diesel at PSU was at 33. The incremental mileage was more than the incremental amount of 9%. But now that it's gone up to Rs 51 vs Rs 36 at a PSU, the incremental mileage should be 50% for a breakeven - so my car should give me about 19 - 20 vs 13 at a PSU!!

In any case we are all getting subsidised fuel from PSU stations and the tax payers are paying for it - so you can say your money is coming back to you in a different form
