1. would like to upgrade tires to 185's...is it better to get it done at dealer before driving out or at a separate tyre shop? Also which brand would u recommend?I am not planning on an alloy wheel change, can the upgrade be done on the same rims? what would be the price diff for the exchange?

Upgarding tires at the dealer can be a tad more expensive compared to a tyre shop elsewhere. Dealers rake in moolah not only by way of selling their cars but the accessories as well. Shop for prices outside and if the dealer can match them, go with the dealer.

I would recommend Michelin XM1 (try for XM1+ as its recently launched but not sure if its easily available). XM1 offers good grip and comfort with very less noise. There are many threads on tire upgrades. Please search.

2. Stay in a coastal town, is anti-rust essential?

Yes. 3M anti rust underbody coating would cost you approx. 2.5k to 3.5k and comes with a warranty of around 2yrs or so (not very sure of the warranty period).

3.planning on reverse park sensors, what would be the cost from MGA, also will the warranty be valid if the wires are NOT cut but the installation done outside the dealer?

Not sure on this one but if the wires are not spliced, IMO it should not void warranty.

4. What brand of sun control film should i go for?

Garware, 3M, Vkool are some of the leading brands. The common misconception is that darker films are better at reflecting heat. Remember that dark colors absorb heat and its a pain to drive at night too. Go for those films which have high heat rejection and UV filtering. I have very light tints on my car (looks like no films actually) but very effective. Cost me 3.5k in 2002 (Garware brand).
