Well, my vehicle (Dzire Zxi Silky Silver) has landed today. Dealer says he will do PDI today and allow me to inspect the vehicle tomorrow after moving it to the delivery center. Is this normal practice ? I remember the PDI checklist for tbhpians asking to inspect vehicle before it goes for registration.

Understandably, this can be any time before/after the dealer does his internal PDI and sends it off to registration, right ?

Also, once vehicle has landed, how long does it take for registration formalities to complete and vehicle to be handed over ?

And, the dealer is proposing to give me a 3rd year extended warranty right now. And change that to 3&4th year as soon as he gets the price for the 3&4th year extended warranty. Is such a thing possible, my friend once told me that it's an either or clause and u can't buy 3rd and then change it to 3+4th year warranty. Who is correct, how does it work ?

He also claims that extended warranty works on the basis of dealer and not maruti per se. To elaborate, the example he quoted was "For example, you are on a long distance trip somewhere, and need some vehicle repair and leave it at a local maruti dealer there, the dealer there will call our dearlership for confirmation of extended warranty and other information and only then proceed with repairs, as a result, don't bother too much about extended warranty, it's only more pain an not worth the effort". Sound like a bag of BS right ? Anyone knows how it works. I know it didn't work this way for my earlier Tata Indica.
