I hate the HU mounting position in the DICOR.
@nitrous-anna, is there a receiver with your steering remote (a small black button) or is it transmitting to your HU directly? AFAIK there are no mass-market remotes using RF - way too costly per unit!

after-market steering wheel remote has a button receiver which can be mounted anywhere on the dash conveniently - it connects to the HU at the rear, I think!
As an interim measure, try sticking alu foil on the front the gear stick shroud!
