Anand,

Read your car manual thoroughly to understand the car, features and service interval. If you look under the bonnet after going through the car manual you will have a fair understanding of the parts and fluid compartments.

It is good to check the engine coolant level and engine oil level atleast a month.

It is better to get the car checked before going for a long drive.
Carry a set of spare head lamp bulbs, tools and ensure that the spare wheel is in good condition.
