According to the source, the game is said to come with just 340 (which i doubt coz GT4 itself came with 745 cars).
All the other cars will be available as online updates. This is good in a way since you can choose what car you need instead of just ending up with 10000 cars, most of which you're never gonna drive.
Having the online facility also means that cars made in the future (even after the game is launched) will be made available.
And GT5 will also make custom cars for a price. So if Shabbir or GS feel the need to have the white supra or 9 sec Skyline added to the list, it can be done.
