If you have selectable lockers there is absolutely no impact on driveability on the street. When disengaged, they function like a normal open differentials. I believe that this is what the Gurkha has.

Full mechanical lockers like a Detroit or Lock Rite are always working. They do not have a way to turn off or on. They do have little quirks for street driving. So you could make the argument that these type of lockers do impact driveabilty on the street.
