well...the engine was largely silent but I could hear some grunt in 1st and 2nd gears. when the car was started, only a small shiver indicated the status.
about external noise, i could hear the horns and grunts of other vehicles but it was not loud enough to be intrusive.
i hope this answers your question coz I didnt really pay much attention to the NVH factor apart from trying to hear audible engine noise.
