| Yes, it is an old complainof the Goodyear, the Falken's that they wear very fast. It is mostly due to the soft compund tires. Whereas TOYO, Michelin' and the Pirelli are quite sturdy. The Yokohoma AES tires are very good with good grip VFM and low noise....

| Senior - BHPian | Guys could this be the case with all Eagle F1's? Or is it just with the D3's?? And do softer compound tyres provide more confort than the harder ones??

| Hey GTO, 9k and a drop in grip levels..... im pretty suprised! I was expecting more like 15k as you mentioned... ESPECIALLY since your car seems to be doing more than 50% of its travelling at rush hour in the city right? You didnt mention the tread depth, how is that? It makes sense that theres a drop in grip levels if the tread is almost gone, but if it is not, that is very strange. On another note, i was just thinking about this, my MXFs have lasted 49k kms!! They are pretty burnt out now but i can safely say they were great for 35k. (Obviously not in the same league at the D3s, but just a small step below). Rtech, how is the treadwear/grip on your D2s doing in comparison? cya R |

| Team-BHP Moderator ![]() | Hmm....never heard of tires losing grip after 5000 miles. Usually grip improves in a regular tire after wear because of the self 'shaving' effect. There is also a phenomenon of scrubbing new tires (heat cycling) to get better life and grip but that usually applies to slicks and R-compounds. Maybe it had an effect here.

BTW I called an Octavia friend of mine with D3s. Same problem. His tyres gave up at 11,000 kms. GTO

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Wow, this is shocking. My GIIIs have done close to 8K kms now and have held on really well. There's no, drop in traction or increase in tyre noise. Do you think the Indian conditions could have caused this? Coz this tyre has some 12 patents to it. Shan2nu

| We have used Potenza GIII, in our lancer and it lasted around 45k, Although it was not worn out completly BUT we changed it with GIII again. Grip level and Noice was same throughout the life of the tyre. They are good tyres. We also has a very good experience of Bridgestone tyres in our qualis. My father owns C220 (Face Lifted). Its running on stock Good Year tyres. ODO is around 28000 kms. The condition of the tyre is good as of now, but we thinking to change it within next 10k kms. GTO, can you please suggest which one to go for, or if you planning to change tyres in your C220, let us know which one you going for. Mostly we are using Merc for highway runs, and average speed we travel when on highways would be around 100 to 140 for more than 50% of the run. Cheers, Mugen_Power. |

| GTO, I think the grip loss is because u r mostly driving on concrete roads and thats the problem as compared to asphalt road (this I am taking a guess).. If u read on tirerack too the GSD3 have problems with dry traction as compared to Michellin and is clearly mentioned there... All Eagle F1's even the first generation used to become hard after a while.. Dont know the reason for that... Now the good news... All GSD3's come with unconditional Warranty so u can change the tyres by giving the complaint and might get a fresh set... Try your luck buddy!!! Cheers
