i've been using k&n filter in my pulsar 180 for more than 1 year.Very good performance and sound is also cool!!.. Dint find any difference in mileage as i've rejetted my bike..Water is a main enemy for this filter.. so i switch to the stock filter during rainy season..

How does the exhaust roar change when we use K&N Filters. I understand that we also need to change the inlet jets for better performance from the bike. Where can we source these jets?

The exhaust roar never change, The sound is the sound on the intake of air..If we dont make the air fuel mixture rich top end may suffer as more petrol is needed for the intake of air at higher speeds..

There is one opposite Crossroads. Its a method Center. They have K n N filters, Koni Shocks, Sparco Seats, etc.

Before going there it would be advisable to give them a call. They dont have all filters readily available for all cars. I have enquried for a NHC they hadnot made for it but when they had they didnot have one for the Optra

Hello ShadyRulez,
You can get an insert for your Baleno which should cost you about 3200 bux. But I have an Extreme filter which is around 5800 bux. On top of that you will have to buy a conical flange to fit it in. The flange is around 2000 or so. The Extreme Filter definitely helps in sucking in more air (about 3 times as much) but I guess it is useless to have that much air coming in, if a free flow does not exist. Then again, if you have an extreme filter and an airflow, then your bottleneck is your engine heads need to be polished for the airflow to go out smoothly, else eddies are built up.
So my recommendation is:

1. Go for insert if you dont want to have tuned free flow exhaust EVER...
2. Go for Extreme if you go in for a tuned free flow exhaust. Polishing your engine heads would remove all the botlenecks and that would be the ultimate, but ofcourse at the complete cost of warranty.

Cheers,
Burjis

I have a conical K&N Filter fixed in my Alto VX 1.1 . Definitely I like the sound of the air intake. Not sure whether it has increased power or FE

I see that, The_Don has voted for every option in the poll. What crap! If my memory doesn't fail me, he did it with some other poll as well.

K&N is a waste, get an alternative brand and vote for option 2 or 3.

Hi! all,
I have installed a K&N air filter in my 2000 DLE Tata Indica , diesel .This was done in Feb 2006. Immediate difference was in the AC efficiency.Somehow the AC seemed to cool more and we are currently in peak of summer in Mumbai. Yes, accelerating quickly thru the gears the air intake roar is more pronounced but only if you give it the stick ....can't remember if it had the same effect with the stock paper filter. Fuel efficiency and torque increase cannot be accurately verified without proper equipment and honestly cannot claim an increase, driving in Mumbai where you hardly go over 30kmpl also does not help. Possibly on the highway to Goa or Pune it may be discernable. Would also like to state here that the K&N filter just sits in the standard plastic stock compartment for the Indica. It is also not a tight fit as compared to the stock paper filter. My question here is IS IT OK? The Indica has currently clocked 66400kms of moderately rough use in city and about 14--16 trips upcountry within a radius of not more than 800 kms
