Default Indica turbo accessories

Hi,

I have booked an Indica DLX turbo model - smoky metal color.
The dealer has offered me a corporate discount of Rs 6000 which I plan
to adjust against accessories.

What accesories do you think are necessary for the turbo model.

Thanks,
sameer

Wider tires maybe?.. 14 inchers on 165 look a bit skinny to me!

Yeah wider tyres.
with those wheel flares 165's look like M800 wheels.

How about 185's or 195's.

The Turbo comes with 185/60 as far as i know. Try to get a spoiler if its not part of the stock equipment. Apart from that, get a remote locking system too if possible.

samatre... two things... why a corp discount of only 6000? I got a discount of Rs.8000 or Rs.9000 (can't remember the figure correctly). So check that out. The second thing is, do NOT encash your discount with free accessories. Take that discount and use it to get all the accessories from outside. The accessories are hugely overpriced in showrooms. Let me give you an example... Those mudflaps they are giving you for Rs.400 (they said 500 to me) are actually available for Rs. 75 outside. Similarly, I got fantastic looking foot-mats (with designer fabric borders) along with rubber mats for cabin and dicky for a total of around Rs.750 in all. Check that against what they are asking you to pay (980+700). Believe me its a loot in there. :P

Accessories look overpriced to me. Ambipur Perfume costs about 130 bucks here...

saurabh... are you a Tata employee by any chance? that 10k corporate discount was for Tata employees the last that I head of...

However I think you are probably better off getting the accessories from outside. Showrooms are not the best of the places to get these fitted. They unnecessarily overcharge you. Let me guess... did the dealer tell you something like you can encash the discount against accessories? Thats the oldest trick in the books.

Do not look at Autocop and similar such as any protecting device. At best they are handy central locking system. thats it. For protection get a good gear lock or pedal locks maybe.

I have Minda-Huf FortKnox in my car. Pretty good I would say for the limited purpose that they serve. Actually most of them are similar. Just check the distance from which the lock can be activated/deactivated. Also, ensure that it covers 5+1... that is 4 doors, the hatch and the bonnet. Typically the installers cut corners by not installing for the hatch or the bonnet.

Lastly, avoid things like touch sensors, motion detectors and such hi-fi sounding things. They leave you to grieve for eternity after some time.

thanks Zappo...

i don't work for Tata.... but for a reputed IT company... only Concorde offered me the 10k discounts...the rest of the dealers offered me 6k max...

And all the accesories are to be payed for seperately.... the discount i availed as cash discount.

Are the motion sensors Autocop models not worth it? I was also planning to get a gear lock...

Thought that the Garware Lite film (70% back and 50% on the sides)... and the Autocop + the roof rails would get it installed from dealer... as me a little lazy...

I'll take care about the 5+1 for the locking. thanks.

Also, is it a good idea to get the underbody treatment done? i have decided on not gettin any teflon coating done.

Help would be highloy appreciated.

thanks
Saurabh

Default no under body treat ment

Folks, I found out that the underbody treatment "dinitrol" or something is considered a fancy item, will not add a pie to the resale value.

I got it done on my 5 yr old 800, none of the dealers gave any bhav to it during evaluation. Anyways, I also lost the warranty card so can't event get the regular quartry re-check stuff. :(

I only hope it helps with actual anti-corossion.

I bought my Indica Turbo DLS in Nov 06. Dealer gave me corporate discount of 10k apart from basic accessories like floor mats etc, plus Piranha central locking system.

I don't think it is supposed to add to your resale value. It is a process to protect and take care of your car. You can't put a price on that.
