Default Aveo 1.4 accesories

My Aveo 1.4 LS LE Ivory gold arrives tomorrow at the dealership - probably only get a TC tomorrow.

What would be the recommended accessories I should add on to the car? The dealer is of course happy to recommend everything

He will provide Mudflaps, Rubber foot mats, Rubber dicky matting.

I have thought of:

1. Film for glass tinting - recommend brands?
2. Mirror locks - Rs. 600
3. Reading Light - Rs. 800
4. Dicky spoiler with brake light - Rs. 9500
5. Chrome exhaust tip - Rs. 1950
6. Larger rear view mirror - Rs. 650 (do I need one?)

My comments & questions.
1. 3M or Lummar. Make sure you choose a grade that donot affect your visualization.
2. What is this???
3. Is it similar to the one in Lancer?
4. Will be too good for Ivory gold.
5. Nice.
6. The stock one has day & night vision to avoid glare from vehicles behind. Make sure you get such if you want.

Mirror locks - these are locks put inside the OVRM, so that the mirror cannot be removed - apparently thieves make off with the mirrors in Mumbai so this has become a mandatory fitting here!

3M film is being quoted at Rs. 4500 - I guess that is OK.

I am pretty disappointed that I cannot play my iPod on the music system since it doesn't have a line IN - any ideas about that?

How about these below?

7. Bumper Protector (set of 4) - Rs. 850
8. Underbody and Doors rust-prevention coating - Rs. 3000
9. Window weather guard (set of 4 tinted) - Rs. 4250
10. Spl Teflon coating (Rs. 4000)
11. Spl Body Cover (Rs. 1700)

Thanks for your help!

GSurya: My comments below. I have a Aveo 1.4 Base model too!

1. Film for glass tinting - recommend brands? - As Mjothi as stated, make sure it's Llumar or 3M. Definitely not Garware. Then you should decide whether you want to stick to the RTO approved shade which is almost useless (from a privacy point of view) or break the law like 90% of vehicle owners (including me) and go for a darker one. Further, 4.5k seems a bit high a quote. Garuda (BLR GM dealer) did my Llumars as part of the deal so I don;t know the exact cost. Search here in TBHP and call around to the BOM accessory shops for rates.
2. Mirror locks - Rs. 600 - Sounds like it's necessary in Mumbai!
3. Reading Light - Rs. 800 - Useful to have. I plan to get one too.
4. Dicky spoiler with brake light - Rs. 9500 - Subjective again: I feel it's too expensive and makes the already stubby Aveo boot seem stubbier. Plus you already have a high-mounted rear brake light (from teh safety angle). Add the spoiler and you'll look like a Christmas tree from the back in the evening.
5. Chrome exhaust tip - Rs. 1950 - The Aveo's exhaust tip is located nicely high up and is concealed. I like it that way with my highway travel and BLR's speedbreakers. This way I don't need to woory about leaving the aftermarket tip behind!
6. Larger rear view mirror - Rs. 650 (do I need one?) - Don't need it; The existing one is pretty good. However, if you like one of those extra-wide ones which give a 270 degree view, buy one.
7. Bumper Protector (set of 4) - Rs. 850 - Very useful but will spoil the looks I feel
8. Underbody and Doors rust-prevention coating - Rs. 3000 - Nice-to-have in BLR but may be essential in BOM
9. Window weather guard (set of 4 tinted) - Rs. 4250 - IMO, spoils the looks and significantly increases wind noise. But super for driving with windows down and in light rain. Do you keep windows down often? Then fit it
10. Spl Teflon coating (Rs. 4000) - Subjective again. I haven't (yet)
11. Spl Body Cover (Rs. 1700) - I got a Chevrolet branded one free.
12. Mudflaps, Rubber foot mats, Rubber dicky matting. - Ask the dealer for the transparent ones - they look much better than the darker ones IMO. Extra rubber dicky mat is probably not too useful as my Aveo already came with a nice dicky mat.
13. I also bought the chrome strip above the rear number plate and also the chrome external door handles. Looks great on my black Aveo!

Hope these help.

Let us know what else you bought!

just ensuring whether the sunfilm is llumar or 3m is not enough. there are many qualities also. go for llumar steel series, they are good. i think its llumar steel 35 or 50 series.

Yes, I have checked these sites. It was refered from T-BHPian only. I was planing for my zen to change the interior paints and upholstery. But sold it later.

Coming back to Aveo, no I am not touching my beauty. If I do these skirts, then ALL roads in Bangalore will touch my beauty

True about the road kisses, mjothi! In fact GM themselves sell a full bodykit for the Aveo for 12k + fitting + painting totalling around 19k. Unfortunately, I feel the front bumper will get quite a lot lower as well as the sides.

Will have to avoid many roads then!

Default Final short list

Thanks to all your feedback, I have shortlisted these accessories finally:

1. 3M glass tint film - from outside, dealer cost Rs. 4500
2. Rear Spoiler - Rs. 9500
3. Underbody and Door rust prevention - Rs. 3000
4. Mirror locks - Rs 600
5. Reading light - Rs. 800

6. Body Cover - Rs. 1700 - What is the verdict on this one? Is it good for the paint or not? I have a stilt garage and the dealer recommends this - but I am hearing mixed comments from friends about its effect on paint.

Gsurya,

Good you quickly made up your mind about the accessories. IMO, if you have a stilt garage you don't need a car cover unless you travel a lot or your stilt doesn't cover the car fully from the rain / driven rain.

Don't waste 1.7k unless you really need it :-)

Hey Surya.. please specify your HU. Some Head units have the Line in on the backside... I have a Sony explode which has the line-in on the outer face so i use a line-IN cable and connect my ipod to it.

I think Blaupunkt has it inside. So check it out..

And as some suggested you dont really need a cover ,"unless your car is going to lie around unused for many days" of the week and you use it only for weekend drives or something.

Also if I recall correct then in the car cleaning topics you will see that users have said that the constant covering and uncovering may actually cause more scratches because of the dust present on the surface.

@gsurya

The Chandigarh dealer is quoting 3500 for rear spoiler (GM accessory). Check at your end
