Default Initial Review of Tuned I-Chips Stand Alone ECU

Hi,

Its been almost a month now since I installed a new Stand Alone Ecu from Zakie Ismail of Tuned I-Chips (Sri-Lanka) Tuned i-Chips Home.

Install - It was absolutely straight forward and took all of a few seconds to install as it is a direct fit to the B16A wiring harness. They have adaptor harness like the one showed in the pic for other Honda engines. All I had to do was plug it in to my car's existing harness. It was a welcome relief as this eliminated all chances of human error and wiring going wrong leading to some functions not working.

Setup & Tuning - Was blown away by the ease of the software and features that it had. Will let Zakie fill in and list out the features in detail along with some screen shots of the software in case I get some terms wrong.

Usage - Once he had loaded his base map the car felt like a dream. Absolutely no idling issues. Would idle perfectly at about 750 -800 Rpm and with Ac at approx 950-1000 Rpm. Vtec worked perfectly and we could set it at whatever point we wanted to(5800 Rpm in my case). Car returns excellent FE considering my driving style and setup(750 cc injectors) and am more than happy with the same. It now pulls like a dream super clean and strongly till about 3500-4000 rpm after which all hell breaks loose. I can pull away in 3rd gear from as low as 900 rpm with AC on without any hiccups/flat spots which is as drive able as one can want. No hunting or jerking experienced of any kind. Never felt the need to shift higher than 6500-7000 rpm in a clear road as there is just too much of wheel spin.

Verdict - 100 % recommended for all Honda owners. He currently only supports Honda's/Mitsubishi's (Zakie correct me if wrong).

Viper

PS - Am not too good at writing reviews so please excuse. In case anyone has any questions pls feel free to ask.

that's a good fast second review of a Honda ECU. I can see two boxes. one unplugged. So this is something like tuned/chipped stock honda ECU and a normal ECU. So it is plug annd play with custom mapping??

@viper: Nice to know that you ride is up and running with no issues. will catch up with you again in a SUZUKI.
@iceman91: I don't get it, but as far as I know a company like HKS is working with the RD Ecu's as we speak here. The complete install is being over-seen by engineers from HKS Japan and the RACE DYNAMICS Team

Memo,
I Dont understand where RD comes into this.
I said it is good to have a plug in ECU without the hassles of wiring it. I have used both kinds and the plug in ecu which uses the original wiring harness is a peace of mind. YOu plug it in and dyno it, tune it and car is ready in under an hour!!! Try that with any other stand alone which needs wiring to be done!!
There are no Plug N Play ecus for suzukis. :( that was my other point!
P.s. Where is a Dyno in bangalore for you to tune the car? I would like to get my car done as well.

Guys,

Kutlee one is his tuning ECU and the other is my ECU which was removed for the tuning. The OE ECU is removed from the car completely.

Please PM Zakie directly for any queries as I do not represent him or have any commercial interest with him or his products.

Thanks Jiggy for the kind words. Will post specs/features of the ECU tuning as soon as I find some free time cos I'm kinda busy after a month long stay in Mumbai. Heaps of work held up in my Colombo office and also with some personal issues to be sorted.

Currently we're not just limited to Honda's and Mitsu's, but also into Diesels and certain European petrols aswell.

@viper: I was checking something on the Google and came across this link, this is one of the best I believe a stock Honda which has got a b15 in it, can get a clean wiring harness like this?

@Zakie@TICL: have you installed this ECU to any honda in Bangalore?

Vinay,

He has plug n play harness for almost all Honda's. Don't think he has done any installs in Banglore himself but has done a few in Chennai. Krupesh of Elektra is his dealer there you can check with him if he has done any installs on Bangy cars.
