Thumbs down Cheap Originals!! - Falling Quality

Ksethuram - at my request- couriered me a couple of "made in hungary" GE 140/100s that he picked up for me from Chennai.... Turns out they are also made in China... I will get home and post snaps of the two versions for everyones benefit!

GE should not LIE like this!.. But then again - they have not "lied".. the snaps will be clearer..

Phillips will sure last long, but for the extreme white you can go for these 200rs chinese. Thingy. Making a bulb is not really rocket science, so I think they will last you more than a year(mine did, and still going strong in some other car).

250Rs ? think its ok as Steeroid got 2 for 550 I guess

visionplus is superb on a dry day (read not rainy). Maybe I felt so and will post back again after anotehr drive on a rainy night.

I got mine for Rs 480/- for a pair from a philips authorized dealer. If he meant 250 per bulb then its fine, otherwise it could be made in china like kb100!

I had tough time replacing original bulbs on baleno, due to a descripency in the manual which asks us to "remove a ring by turning it anti-clockwise", but no such ring exists

Original ones where also philips (normal). Intentionally replaced only one of them for now for comparison, to me it does not apper to be all that 50% more light as per the claim (may only be 25-30%), and the light is relatively less yellowish than before! Good one for its cost especially because its no-tampering, play-it-safe option...

I too had the Made in Hungary GE 140/100 in my car before, the bulb didn't last long, probably 6 months. Now i'm using Philips (Rallye) 130/100 and these bulbs give better light compared to the GE.

The GE i had was made in hungary, the box said so and so did the base of the bulb. I have one in working condition the other got blown. And one thing i noticed is that the GE bulbs are short compared to the other bulbs.

Yeah... just check if the base of the bulb had a stenciled "Hungary" (just that one word).. or an engraved whole lot of things ending with a "Made in Hungary"

Yes the 140's are shorter...

Sorry folks.. the snaps are due.. have not had the time to take them.. will take them this weekend along with my ICE snaps...

If my memory serves me right it was written "Made in Hungary" in black letters alongwith the specs of the bulb. I' not too sure. Can't look it up now coz i've left the bulbs in Banglore & i'm in tvm.
