Do you have one for the Endeavour, what is the output like?

Also, being a lay man in the area of "boxes", how do they work?

But isnt 35k's too much for it... it wont be costing them as much as they are charging... or probably they want to keep it as a niche product only for the rich.

Seems pretty steep at the moment. But like all things will come down with competition and time. They should do the wiser thing and keep it reasonably priced. Such kind of a thing sells well when actual users start praising and responding to it. Alot of under-powered cars could benfit from this. They should play the numbers game rather than the nich high profit margin game.

We would love to keep the prices down and make it available to more customers. Who wouldn't? But we cant sell it at a loss can we??

The Pete's tuning box is the most advanced and most reliable unit available in the world and is priced nearly the same all over the world and we are the people who benifit the least due to the high tax structures when it reaches here.

""Such kind of a thing sells well when actual users start praising and responding to it"" - Yes that is exactly what is happening - We have nearly 750 Pete's tuned cars on the road right now and we plan to cross the 1000 mark in the next few months. WE ARE PLAYING THE NUMBERS GAME. If we were to sell this unit as a very nich segment product believe me it would sell for above 40. Any of our customers would vouch for the product and that is what our strong point is.

Thanks to you all,

Well i will give you that argument but you cant blame me, in india is common to see niche placed products at much higher prices.
Also, Why is it just diesel cars. Is there some theory/reasoning behind it?

Diesel Cars are re chipped, wheras Petrols are remapped.
Diesel because they have turbos in it

Tuning boxes work on the basic pricipal of allowing for more fueling into the cylinders. In diesel cars you can add more fuel and make sure there is more air to burn it and the system works.

In Petrol cars other than fueling you need to also look into ignition timing etc so the procedure is more complex and requires a complete remap for the car to run properly. Does not mean you cannot remap a diesel, ofcourse you can and you can get a lot more power out of a remapped diesel than a tuning boxed diesel becuse you can change more parameters and get the best out of it.

Both diesel's and petrols can be rechipped and remapped. Rechipping is the physical change of the chip inside the ECU whereas remapping is the change of the software in the ECU.
