Hello Experts, This is my first posting on this forum. Recently I've bought JVC KD-720 Head Unit. Now I would like to get your comments on chosing the right speakers which will match the system as well as the car. System SpecificationsL: 20W RMS * 4 Channel @ 4Ohm Budget: Around 5-6K I've few questions about the speakers 1. Which speakers to go for front and back? 2. Coaxial vs Component? 2-way vx 3-way? 3. Santro already has speaker grills in front (4inch) and back (6 inch). Should I use them for fitting speakers? 4. But these grills are round in shape, and many told me that an oval speakers provides a better sound quality than round. So should I use oval speakers for back and install them in the parcel tray? 5. Finally, is there any reliable place/shop in Pune where I can get all this thing done? Thanks in advance, Amit

5-6K is just about right for 4 speakers. You should indeed put 4" speakers in the front, as this will fit in the factory position. If it was me, I would put 6" coaxials in the factory position in the rear too. Putting ovals will give you a little more bass in the rear, than the 6". But i guess then you will have tp put a parcel shelf and cut holes in it. If your taste in music is soft and clear, then just keep it in it's original condition, 4"+6". If you like loud punchy music, then go for the oval 6X9. The brand will depend on your taste, but generally specialist brands (that make only speakers etc) will give you a better output than your regular sony, pioneer etc.

In that budget the JBL CS series is about the best vaule. Sam unfortunately cant reommend them as he represent's JBL's mother company (Harmon International) in India. The only other speaker I have heard inthis range (2-3K per pair) is the Blaupunkt GTx series and so far atleast 2 of my friends (both using Santros) have prefered the JBL CS over the Blaupunkt.

Thanks Sam for your advice. A few more questions / doubts 1. I do have a parcel tray in rear. 2. If the wattage is the same, does shape (round / oval) of speaker matter? 3. What wattage of speakers should I go for in rear? Around 250W? Also should I go for 3-way or 4-way speakers? 4. What does rated power input of speaker mean? It varies from speaker to speaker. Do I have to be careful about it while chosing the right speakers for the head unit? Thanks Amit
