Question JBL 12" DVC, your opinions ?

I plan on getting the JBL 12" DVC. Not sure if its the Dual 2 Ohm or 4 Ohm that is available. Also adding front components.

Currently Im using the Sony 502z to run my rear 6x9. I have a spare Alpine Mrpf240 which I will put into use now that Im adding front comps and a DVC sub.

Just wanted to check with your opinions on the sub.

http://www.jbl.com/car/products/category.aspx?cat=sub

Appreciate it if I could get some quick replies as I am due to buy everything shortly.

Thanks
p.s : I originally meant to post this on the "ASK GURU's" thread but I need to know your views ASAP and started a new thread instead as it will probably get a lot more hits in the section.

The Alpine's best you can get: 100W x 2 [4Bridged (0.3%THD)]

Maths. Use that to max. MAybe a dual coil with 100 for each coil?

But cant you just drive a single coil with 100 and use the free channel for 2 speakers?

The compos? Which one are you gonna get?

Guess I will drive only the 6.5" JBL front comps with the Sony 502 and the DVC via the Alpine. Rear 6x9's can just run of the HU. Reason im going in for the DVC is Im getting a good deal on a fairly new piece with warranty Anyway will let you know when the deals confirmed... probably tomorrow.

Do the reverse... Please use Alpine's sweeteness (as Navin would put it) for the front... And the Sony for the sub... No idea what the sony puts out though.... But the other way - well.... GURUs!!

Kb100, hows the ice quest going

Yeah actually makes sense to drive the front+rear on the Alpine and Sub via the Sony. Can throw the sony out somewhere along the line for a nicer "sweeter" amp. hehe.

use the 240 to drive the front and rear and use the 502 to drive the sub, one channel per voice coil.

Ok finally someone who has used the product WOW you have a nice amp there to power the sub, this is what my setup will be lacking but I guess for now the 502 will have to do.

Thanks Navin, JKdas, kb100 and buffetman.

http://rapidshare.de/files/19407388/...4-05_.pdf.html

Above is a link to a PDF manual about the subs. I dont hear much on the forum about these DVC subs(jbl) so I was just curious. And oh yeah I listen to almost every genre, but a lot of bass heavy stuff. (Read ambient dub, chillout, lounge, fast trance(140-150bpm, old rock, alternative etc)

Thanks again.

the 1202 I thought was a dual 2 ohm sub. the 502 would put out a bit more than 50W/ch at 2 ohms. I have said it before and i'll say it again it is not power but sensitivity that determines if a speaker can be driven properly by an amplifier.

hi,

i am also looking for a subwoofer and have zeroed down on JBL GT415 15" SVC. I guess the price of JBL 12" DVC and JBL 15" SVC are almost the same, but performance of GT415 15" seems to better than the DVC.

Though i am not sure, but some audio guy told me that they have been getting some complaints about the DVC. May be SAM could help.

Sensitivity ? Then he should be looking at Hertz 350D or so.

GTO1202 is indeed a 2ohm2 2coil sub

Your probably right about the PRICING, im not sure... but when it comes to audio guy saying the DVC has problems im pretty sure its because they have screwed up the wiring as DVC offers multiple wiring options... I would have loved to go for another sub but Im being offered a good price on something and I need to grab it !! Like i said earlier if there was no budget constraint my hearts set on the image dynamics

There are no problems with the JBL DVC. Often it's just badly connected. That said, some people have been known to prefer the GT-4 series. The GT-4 15 is still available at a reduced price and the GT-4 12 will be making a comeback this year, along with the GTO1202D DVC.
