Default Time to ICE up the Aveo!

Okey...as most of ya'll know, will be getting the Aveo within 3weeks time.
And this time i don't wanna screw up up system like did last time...

So, i'm planning to have..
1.Pioneer DVD HU (model yet to be decided)
2.Five speakers (two pairs of compos and one center)
3.My current JBL basstubes are too big for the boot of the Aveo. So will have to get one 12" or 15" with box.
4.Currently have a Pioneer 944, and i'm guessing i'll definately have to get another one as well for the speakers.

And maybe a cap as well if i ever need it...

Now i only want stuff from either JBL, Hertz or Kicker. And i don't wanna mix stuff from those brands, i mean i would like a single brand setup as far as possible.

Hi Karthik.

I've had better experiences with Sony DVD HUs. The MEX R1 also comes with 3 pairs of pre-outs. Unless you're going for the type that has a motorized monitor onboard.

3 very vastly different brands, different specialities. What is your basis for choosing between the three?

I'm only looking at motorised indash or double din DVD HU's

Well, any setup which produces good bass and a fair amount of SQ is fine with me.

And why i chose those particular brands, well its just a personal choice..hehe

Alpines are good in the motorized in-dash monitor equipped HU department. Pioneer, a distant second best (based on commonly available HUs in India only, please).

I didn't ask why you chose those brands. I meant, what is going to be your criteria to choose one brand between those three.

If budget is a criteria, JBL would be good. GTO series amps, if you can afford it. I don't really adore Kicker speakers, but before people jump me, I'm not trying to influence your opinion, this is just about me.

Hertz should be great for all-out SQ. I have a feeling it will be more expensive than the other 2 brands you mention. Inifinity Reference series is a good mid level SQ brand too, worthy of consideration.

If you change your mind about buying a car stereo, and decide to splurge the money otherwise, you should PM Sam and take necessary tippling tips. He's a very good investment consultant.

P.S. Congrats on purchasing the Aveo. If I had one mind of buying the Aveo, I would change it based on their stupid ad. What's with the ad anyway? What's all that stupid babble by Saif and Rani? They should be tried for torture. Congrats anyway!

Alpine HU's will be way outta my budget. And yes, the Aveo does have a double din OE HU, but only Kenwood has those types. And IMO with Pioneer i'll have more control of the music than with the Kenwood.

And after getting the ICE and other extras, if there is $$$ left, i'll keep Sam in mind

If you really want a 1 brand solution I would have to choose Alpine

they make a good HU, there are still some decent Alpine amps out there and their Type R series of speakers is not bad either. I dont know any single brand that covers all these options so well.

Q1: why single brand. usually a BOB solution gives better bang for the buck
Q2: You got a budget. Hertz is a bit more expensive than JBL.

If you are looking at a simple BOB solution consider an Alpine HU driving a 5/6 ch. Audison Amp and Focal front and rear speakers and a ID sub.

Oh. BTW. Had to edit. BOB = Best of Breed.

Sam! he'll spend money that SHOULD be spent on ICE on things like wine and women.! Then the women will spend more of your money and your ICE will be on ice forever! :-) LOL

just look at my case. Every since I got married my ICE and Home Audio sytems have shrunk. I fear the day when my wife wants one of those "cute Bose thingies"!

On another thread I see mention of tweeters that tweet and woofers that woof, and now best of breed. Watching a lot of Animal Planet with your young one, eh?

Ahh... Been There Done That...

used the W200 in an install recently, quite nice... The display is waaayyy better than the Pioneer 7550 or the other in dash dvd units we've seen. But there are pretty much no audio features. You dont have any XO on the front and rear preouts, and you cant set the subwoofer xo either. For most audio features you need to add the H710 processor. But video quality and the PulseTouch works very well.
