given that you got 120gb of music that would make 30,000 tracks. Geez that is huge. At an average of 12 tracks per CD you are talking about 2500 CDs worth of music! BTW in 2007 there will be a 120gb ipod. think of the possibilities. In 2008 expect a 250gb or even 400gb versions. You wont need compression algorithims then. | |

| Ok now i have a Nokia 6600 and a Lightwave 512MB Mp3 player. Got bored of both. Now my maximum budget in 20k and i have zeroed upon the Sony Ericsson W810i as is both a mobile and an mp3 player (Not a mere one, its a music phone). I never owned an ipod ever but heard a lot, my friend owns an ipod not a mini or a nano sum normal thing with 3GB . Now i dont want that big thing anyways. 1. What is the difference in the playback quality between an ipod and any other mp3 player when it comes to playing mp3 files apart from itunes???? 2. Can an ipod video play formats like mpeg(1 and 2) and avi? Ok now you know my budget, 20k. Can you advice me what to buy? the SE W810i or any normal mobile and an ipod seperately??? Listen i know there are many hard core ipod fans there. Dont just say buy this and that. I am a student (12th) and my parents are buying this , dint tell em yet. So think in my shoes!!! If there is no more advantage in the ipod compared to the mobile i planned i think the mobile is better as it is a 2 in 1.

| BHPian | why do you need to go for the SE w810i, go for the W800i. the only difference is EDGE and the GSM850 band, both of which u wudnt use in India. The W800i is cheaper and good value for money. I own it and is an amazing phone. But the decision is urs. The phone comes with 512 mB card, headphones and usb cables. chk this page before u decide. http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3...&idPhone1=1089 How much do you think is the cost for W800i and W810i. I bought my W800i in Manila for 16500 pesos (also included an authentic SE belt pouch), aroung 14,400 INR.

Now the downside. The only 2 limitations I have found are: 1. Takes pretty long to transfer your songs/playlist to the phone. 2. The v3i has an expandable memory of a max of 512 mb (sandisk transflash), so you can do what I do, get about 3-4 transflash memcards. The size of the sandisk transflash is almost 1/3 the size of a normal memory card (like your nokia 6600's 25 mb card). Another limitation is, as with the ipod, even if you add 1 new song to the playlist, you have to reload the whole playlist onto the phone again (which is a bloody pain!)... but i'm still really happy with the thing. Amasing speaker quality, and the earphones they give with the phone are also pretty good. Oh yes, a plus point about this phone. Unlike the nokia, where you have to take out the memory card and put it in a reader to access the info in it, with this phone, you just connect the given usb cable directly from the phone to the comp to access the card. And when connected to the comp, it automatically starts charging via the usb cable itself! Luckily for me, I didn't have to buy the mini usb cable cause my palmtop's cable is the same as this one. Hope this helps... the phone's great.. trust me! Godspeed. Alok.
