suggestions for WagonR audio needed.

Hi everybody,

I have been watching this forum about six months but sorry for saying this , I am a silent member of this forum and this is my first post.

Last week i purchased WagonR VXI from bangalore and now i am searching for good audio combination for my machine.

I also visited some of the shops and got the quote also.

My doubts are

1. I am planning for sony xx350xxx or Blaukpunkt HU, and 426 JBL front and 936 JBL rear,
Is it the good combination , caz the rear JBL speaker is giving good bass ( seen the demo in autoshop , koramnagala , Bangalore )

2. Is the woofer and amp( two or four channel ) are really needed for the this kind of small car.
Becaz my vendor is giving quote for 1 & 2 for 26000+,
and 1 alone for 16000 ( with bill and warrenty )


3. Also i wanted VCD/DVD support also in my HU, If it is that what is best model available in sony/pioneer/BlPuk and what could be the best price.

If it falls with in 15000 including all ,it will be fine for me.

Is it the safe thing to go for grey market price, Becaz the same vendor is giving this for grey market price also ( some 6000 rupees less )

What is the vendor offering for 26K? 2 pairs of speakers and a HU?

1. the 426 adn 936 have been superceeded by the 427 and 937.
2. I think the 427 and 937 together shouldcost about 8K. You can get a good Sony or Blau HU for 9K.
That makes a total of 17K. Add a bit for wires and install and yuo should be wellunderway at 18K.

If you want you could add a small 4 amp for about 7-10K for a grand total of 25-28K.

Most HUs can be modified to offer VCD support but then you need a screen to view the VCDs.

DVD players will play most CDs, MP3-CDs, etc... and run you about 15-16K+.Again you will need a screen or 2 or 3.

Welcome. Silent for 6 months?? Wow, how did you manage that.

Combination one seems to be about right for your car. In fact another TBHpian from Bangalore, Sourav, has the same combo and he's happy with it. You can find his thread somewhere.

An amp and a woofer will give you that deep loud bass that some people enjoy. You need to think about what kind of music you listen to and at what volume before you decide.
I say, go in for the HU and the speakers first, listen to it for a while and upgrade later if you like.

They grey market is a mixed bag. Sometimes a great deal, sometimes a con-job. Go to the grey market if you know what you are doing and trust your dealer entirely. otherwise it's always better with bill and warranty.

I havent answered your VCD?DVD question because i dont know, someone else will answer that shortly.

There is enough stock of the 6 series floating in the market to go on till the end of june.

avoid sony vcd player as it has some issues abt its lens

1.blau vcd player 9-10k

Sony VCD HU @ 9k me think. JVC DVD HU @ 10k; Pio DVD HU @ 16K

screen start at 4k onwards. I donno teh price of the Blau VCD HU taht comes with the Indigo

@rsjaurr; like Navin pointed out somewher; maybe the old sony Hu had the lens problem not the new ones. Mine was a 2 yr old model too.

So the total is 15900 ( with out woofer and amp )


amp -- 3450 for sony 552 and 5500 for JBLcs602
woofer is 2800 for sony1000W and 4700 for JBl1000w

it comes aroung 10000 if we go for JBL.


So in total it comes around 26000 without VCD/DVD

Is it the best deal ?

looks fine. do spend soem money on nice RCA and cables of teh amp setup though. JBL better than sony sub. SOny amp cheaper than JBL amp,but think JBL when run in bridged mode would be more powerful ( can someone confirm this ? as I donno what it delivers in bridged mode )

oh forgot; do get teh Blau HU, what were their name?

The prices seem fair yet Sam is the ultimate judge when it comes to JBL equipment.

BTW you'd need a box for the sub and some cables (I like Interlink Jr. from Monster for the price and convienence).
