Default amp clips at high volume

hi gyz,

i recently bought a pio 6100f.....when i went to get it installed, i found that it shuts off for few seconds while playing the low notes at high volume, while its clear and continous at low volumes....done everything, including removing 0.5 F capacitor, installing new wiring incl RCA cables, but it doesnt seems to solve the problem.

the installer told me that it has something to do with the "MOSFETS". any inputs why and how it could be resolved.

stuff : channel 1 & 2 to power Xplod XSGT 6945 and channels 3 and 4 bridged to Pioneer TS126C sub.
Power wire and ground wire: 8 gauge each, gain setting: Full, Bass setting on HU: 4 (xplod XRCA620X - casseete player mated to 10 MP3 changer).

as i turn up the volume on HU & theres a low note, sounds disppear for about 10 sec and then come back and then disappear and so on till i turn the volume down.

Panky amp gains are not volume knobs... turn your gain down to about 65-70%. Your amp is clipping away to glory... keep it up and you're gonna blow something damn soon...

thanx gunman, do u think turning gain to 65-70% would solve this problem? (irrespective of the volume at HU)

as u have said that the pioneer sub is C so it must be a 4 ohms one and two sony speakers that is not much of a load to this amp....

as suggested by our gunbir phaji reduce the gains to nearly 60-70 %

check the ground and power wire connections......

or rest u can come down to fbd i can practically see and telll

yup phaaji, its an SVC 4 ohm 12" (eqv to Pio TSW306C)....ground cables and power wire are perfect. i used entire new lot (externally) to power the amp, but it still doesnt work! it took me more than 4+ hrs to do the entire permutation and combination lot!

as for full gain, if its capable of producing 120 X 2 RMS, am allowing it to do that!! (at least for couple of minutes)

as for FBD, u need to PM me your #/ call at my #, so that we may carry it fwd!!

Panky, again, you've got this wrong... The gain DOES NOT work like a volume knob. It is not a control for increasing/decresing volume or setting the amp to its max by setting it on full...

Based on what maximum clean preamp voltage your HU can provide (typically at about 75-80% on your HUs volume), gains are meant to be MATCHED to your HUs output. Somewhere in between the minimum and maximum of the gain, there is a point that can be set by measuring (or even by ear). It is at this point that your amp will give max undistorted output.

Panky,

Your gain settings are wrong.

Turn the gains down, as i remember there is marking on the amplifier's gain pots labeled as Nominal. Set the gains to Nominal position.

JBL 75.4 for 13K fits right in. I am quite sure there are others.
