HelloRamki,

I would suggest a good head unit from Pioneer or Sony. Please avoide pioneer and sony speakers.
I am sure you can manage 4 speakers (as the front of the alto can hold 4" speakers)
Do not just put 2 speakers in the rear and call it quits, you need good sound upfront too.

I know Sam cant say this (it involves recommending brands) so I will.

Ramki, On 3 occasions (all 3 Santros) I had friends who had budgets that resembled yours. In each case I let them hear 3-4 brands of speakers and HUs.

The HUs and Speakers that came up on top are Blaupunkt and Sony (HU) and JBL CS series (speakers). The Hus cost 6-9K and the speakers about 5K for 2 pairs of 4-5" coaxs.

I did not offer my opinion. It was not my money, my car or my music. I jsut asked them to listen. I suggest you do the same (i.e listen).

I am not known as someone who recommends one brand over another and I do this with great treipidation here. Our tastes and needs are too different for this. I am only relating my unbiased opinion hoping it will help.

PLEASE YOU YOUR EARS!

Blaupunkt, Sony and Pioneer all make good HUs. Make sure you get a BILL and a MANUFACTURER'S warranty. Be doubly careful about this if you like the Pioneer best (in listening tests).

Until a few years ago, both manufacturers made decent speaker products. In fact I used to particularly like old, plain-looking Pioneer TS-A6970 and 6980 speakers which used to be around in the 90s. However, the quality of the speakers has gone down since then, and has made way for shiny faceplates, and 4-way/ 5-way speakers. Plainly, they sound quite ordinary, and there are far better options in the market today. I would suppose that's what Sam meant.

the basic blau HU comes at 4.5k B&W.

Or check some Pio HU ( grey ones) as you are on a tight budget.

Add to this 5.25" coaxial fro front and rear doors for about 3k [JBL/Hertz/alpine]

total 10.5k.

Maybe I'm used to the likes of Navin and Sam, who've 'been around'. Thanks for including me.

Check out how much the JBL CS series costs. Might fit in your budget.

IN most cases a 2 way is adequate. Most 4-5 way speakers are "plastic-fantastic" but have poor sound. This is not to say that all 2 way speakers are good. I have some lemons too. Still if you listen you will find fewer 2-3 way lemons than 4-5 way versions.

Please! Dont limit your audio because you dont have the budget. And Alto is a good car to have some great audio.
I suggest you buy a decent HU and front speakers for now. And upgrade later as more dough comes in.
If you can stretch your budget a bit, get a pioneer 5850 HU and JBL 607 or Hertz DSK130 (or DSK165) component speakers for the front. Leave the rear for now. You'll enjoy the sound.
