Sony SD series or pio mono [not D510 which mugen was talking abt]would be his best options but without b&w.

I think you should select the sub before deciding which amp to get for it. If you buy yourself a single voice coil sub, there's no point buying a monoblock optimized for maximum output at 2 ohms. It's a waste of money. For a SVC, I would recommend a monoblock capable of full output at 4 ohms, or a 2-ch amp bridged, to do the job.

SVC - Single Voice coil Sub (generally 4 ohms)

DVC - Dual Voice coil Sub (can be 2 ohms each, or 4 ohms each or rarely even 8 ohms each)

no reason why you cant. what gave you this impression.

most car amps are ahppy at 4 ohms and can tolerate 2 ohms so as long as each channel of the car amp "sees" more than 2 ohms you should be ok.

the problem will be if you bridge the amp then you need to double the minimum impedance stated. so if yo take a 2 ch amp and bridge it then take a DVC 4ohm per coil speaker and parallel the 2 coils you are going to overload the amp. The amp will see 2ohms bridged which effectivly means 1 ohm per channel.

but you can wire the coils in series and drive the amp to a 8 ohm load (4+4 ohms).

Hey Bhagwan (not the Bhagwan who posted someplace else looking for an installer in Mumbai),

Why 8 ohms and all? Then the setup doesnt sound as loud based on the specs advertised, and you blow the sub by clipping it. And if the installer cannot figure out serial connection, then you have a fried amp.

The idea of my post was to advice that please buy mono amp rated at full power at 4 ohms if using a dvc, or 2 ohm stable class D types if DVC. Like Sam says.. 'Buss'

Between those 2, the pioneer is a clear winner.

lancer_mania,

JBL Or Pioneer Both will sound great but you should not have to go for Sony Sub.

Cheers,
