| Hi, I have joined this Forum Today(Feb 08-2007). I have a JBL Sub Woofer (some cylinder like stuff) .That takes the whole space in my boot(Indica).Does anyone have any idea abt Under Seat Woofers-their cost, effects, safety features . Thx |

I dont know about the costs. One of our college guys had a such a setup in a viva, but 4 subs instead of one!!! I think they might be smaller ones may be 6'' or 6.5''. I say so because, had they been the big ones, that could be a disaster to the bowels. But the end result is .... what can I say...... 'different'. Hey but for the JBL bass tube (the cylinder types) you better dont put it under the seats. What you can do is sell it off, buy one which can be mounted onto the parcel shelf.

| hey werfish..welcome to TBHP..you could place youe sub in side your spare wheel if you turn and mount the spare wheel upside down.. Technocrat of Chennai can do it for you.. PM me for more details..I've had the same issue in my Indica..some years ago..

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | Kkr2k2.... Last thing you want is to ...... No. He is not talking about the cylinder kinda thingy. He has asked about costs etc.. Which means he wants a new sub setup. Underseat subwoffers are possible using smaller size drivers. You can even do a dual sub setup in 2 seperate boxes. Each kept below the front seats. You can even go for a "2 subs! Dual mono or stereo" way. There's an innova install done by Gunbir & JB with underseat subs. Search for it. That will help you a lot.

| Under seat woofers are usually 6.5" or so. No match for the 12" JBL TUBE you got. Besides they are expensive for what they do. The compact alternate I can see is a isobarik sub using 2 woofers and custom box etc... but that is expensive. Maybe a Free Air Sub can be an option.

| BHPian | i had velocity small size subs, oval shape , had 2 of them. not really sure whether 6.5" or lesser. even though it sound is good but not really powerfull. Im not really sure whether velocity is still producing these subs.

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | Oh My God! You're thinking of fitting that Bass tube (AKA cylinder) into the spare wheel well? I never thought one will think that. ![]() Man! That's not a good option I guess. Underseat subwoofer setups will be expensive because smaller sub drivers are normally expensive than the bigger ones. If you want to keep the expenses down and still save space, then free air is a good option. But in a hatchback, I dunno if It'll be good.

| Well,What I can comprehend from all the above discussion is keep my existing JBL Tube. The Effects cant be matched. So i guess i stick on with the tube and keep disconnecting it when i need to use the boot. |

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | This may be silly, so tell me if it is, how about the roof above the parcel shelf. Normally we never load luggage that night, and the rear passenger sits quite a bit front in the indica that you have headroom behind him. So is it possible to put the stuff up there.
