HELP!Problem with my Pioneer HU(DEH-740MP) - Team-BHP

Hi ppl I bought this HU less then two years back for 5000rs, Seemed to be a nice one as it looked clean this HU has OEL. and plays mp3. So i bought it. It worked fine for more than one year. Problem started few months back when suddenly the cd that was playing started skipping which kept on increasing every other day. So someone suggested that i should use lens cleaner. I used it(philips one) and then no cd never rotated in it. Now it has been like 4 months i have given it for repair to a local repair shop and this guy says that he would need to replace some card in it with another. And the only way he can get a new card is from some same model...so its like lying there...Is there anything i can do???

I thought of buying a new IPOD and connecting it with this player through aux. But the Ipod i like will come at the same cost for which i can buy a new player..
Any suggestions???

SSM, you must have bought this HU used. Cuz as a 7 series HU it never sold for 5k. Also, I have one in my dads car since 2002 and being a 01/02 model if you bought it 2 years back it must have been used.

My take is that for a 5 year old HU, its seen its share of action and you should buy a new HU now.

the new range is pretty good. the 4950 should be around 5-6K. even that has 3 pre outs.

might be the lens issue and not really a card issue, very honestly dump it and get a new PIO HU if you can afford 4-5k or buy a IPOD and plug in so u have music in car and while out also

Thanks a lot well even I am planning to buy a new HU My budget is around 12 to 13k and i want my HU to have OEL display and a very good output.50*4 something like that i heard is good...So plz sugest me some good HU's. I saw new 6850 for 8K how is it?? And what better options do i have as my budget is around 13 K. Do let me know guys. Thanks a lot

the 6850 is the 2006 model the new 2007 model is 6950 or summin its got usb connectivity and stuyff pretty good....if u dont need the usb and want to save some cash you could get the 6850.

ya go for a 69 series....it also has a usb support....

Well I just did my research and i have shortlisted 7950 UB and 6950IB. I cant find much difference between the two. So please enlighten me and plz can i knw abt diff in there prices in india. That is with B&W and without B&W. Thank you so much. God these new models look hot.
