I think you mean the speakers are jarring at high decibels. try to find out if it is the front or rear or the sub by disconnecting each of them individually. You seem to have mixed & matched with some ordinary, decent & good systems.

My suspect would be the Alpine amp. Is it genuine?

By clarity issues, did you mean that the sound is too harsh? Or that it distorts at high volumes?

Where does the sound tend to "tear"? From the sub or from the 6x9s? I guess from the 6x9s, right?

1) Problem could be that the gains for the 6x9s are set too high in the amp.
2) The HPF/LFP filters for the 6x9s are set to 'off' in the amp?

And if the amp is not genuine Alpine...

Unrelated, but a little related
You don't have speakers in front? I guess you'll be driving the car mostly? Getting speakers in front will make a lot of difference to the overall ambience in front.

Ah, so the sound is tearing from your Sony Subwoofer. It's not a very nice subwoofer, actually. However, do let us know, is it mounted in a box, or is there a hole in the parcel shelf of your esteem?
Are you using a low pass filter in your amplifier.

If the subwoofer is mounted in the parcel shelf, as I suspect, check if the tearing/vibration is indeed coming from the sub and not it's surroundings.

As we wait for the answers for Sam's questions, can you please also explain what your gain settings are? Both, for the sub and speakers.

One more thing which i noted... the HD setting.. if i get the front speakers turned off.. the sub... gets into the tearing mode i mentioned.. and when i get the front ones on... with the overall.setup... one of rear JBl's starts to tear and the sub works fine... ahh seems soo complicated.... ... and yes..

invincible, what you need is a decent installer. This doesn't look to me like something you can fix yourself.

The questions remain unanswered. lease:

How do you turn off the front speakers? Fade! I assume. Or please explain.

Doesn't the 4750 have 2 pre-outs?

What I think is the preouts are not utilised in your setup or it's not done correctly. So, it is better to get the setup checked by a good installer.

A case of absolutely messy install. get your car to a half decent installer & you should be fine.
cheers

a) what front speakers do you have?
b) what is the model number on the alpine amp
c) is the amp connected to the front speakers and sub only or have all four speakers and sub been connected to the amp?
d) if all else fails, Sam K. can check it out personally. He just has some pre-requsites that need to be filled! :-)
