Default Sound Advice For Santro

Hi guys, i am a newbie, so kindly excuse my earlier posting gaffes.

I desperately am looking for help with setting up my ice in the santro. The Configuration is as follows:

HU: Blaupunkt St. Louis MP56.

Amp: Blaupunkt THA 555 pnp 5 Channel Amp.

Rear: JBL Triaxials GTO 937 Mounted on MDF parcel Shelf.
OR
Blaupunkt OD series Triaxials.

Front: JBL GTO 507 Components

Sub: O2 Oxygen 12" Zenon Sub mounted in a custom mdf enclosure.

I am from Mumbai and need someone to help me out with the install.

Could Someone recommend me a good reasonable installer who'll help me out with:
01. installing the components in the front doors,
02. Damping the front doors and the hatch ( Alternatives to Dynamat
with prices and sources) and
03. the tuning.

Thanks a ton.

In the West I was travelling on some by road near the new Le Marxhe mall in Andheri and saw a few car shops. One of them was a JBL dealer with huge JBL POPs outside and the other was called BASS....something. I would talk to thes guys. Unfortunately I live at the other end of town. Maybe others have a better idea.

The JBL Dude, " M.A. Car Studio" is not really interested in doing part installs or just tune ups. I've spoken to him before and it wasn't so fruitful.

The Other Guy, "BASS.COM" is owned/run by a guy called Sonu. i am trying to get through to a friend of mine who knows him.

I am going to be busy for a few weeks, got a very dear baccha of mine in hospital and need to divert all attention to him. So lets see.

Just keep me posted with regards to the damping options and the costing details, as i am thinking of damping the front doors and the hatch.

Take care till then, Ciao.

P.S. Thanks a ton for your inputs.

You first take care of your kid, we'll still be here when all is well. If my son was in hospital I would not think of anything else. In fact when my son just wants to play ICE goes out the window. Till then my prayers are with you and your child.

I, too, am looking at an audio upgrade for my Santro, so posting in this thread. Hope this isn't considered hijacking.
For the front, I would like to go for the Hertz ESK 163S 3-way components.
For the sub, the choice is between the IDQ10D2V.2 & the IDQ10D4V.2 in a sealed enclosure. I guess I have to decide on the amp first, as one sub is 2 ohms dvc & the other 4 ohms dvc.
No rear fill.
HU - My old Sony MP50 with 2 sets of preamp outs.
Good quality cables.
Adequate damping.
I would like to go for a single amp either the Audison SRx3 or the JBL GTO75.4 but have no clue how to decide between them.
Can I request the gurus for their valuable advice, not only on the choice of amp but the entire setup?
Can someone post the price of the SRx3 in India?
Thanks.
Feels great to be a BHPian at last!

The subwoofer choice depends upon what amplifier you choose. If the sub channel of amplifier is stable in 4 ohms go for D2 if it is stable in 2 ohms then go for D4.

Audison SRx3 is for 30,900 and puts out :

2 X 75W (4 ohms) + 250W (4 ohms)
2 X 65W (4 ohms) + 340W (2 ohms)
2 X 95W (2 ohms) + 315W (2 ohms)

Thanks, Autophile. Now if I go for the SRx3, I need the D4 sub with the voice coils in parallel to get 2 ohms impedance. The amp gives 340W to the sub, which I think is ok, as the sub is rated at 300W. But then the amp gives 2 x 65W to the front. As the ESK 163S is rated at 125W, will I be grossly underpowering them?

The power for the front components is fine.

Any idea how the following combination would sound?
ESK 163S
D2 sub with voice coils in series
GTO75.4 amp with rear channels bridged for sub.
Trying to find a VFM solution & would welcome your suggestions.

It will sound good. JBL GTO Series amplifiers have good grunt. Audison will offer you better SQ and power with finesse but at a price.

You have to contemplate what fits your budget better.

Thanks. Will take a decision on the amp later. What's the best way to fit the 3-ways in the Santro? Mid-bass in door with some cutting, mid-range in stock location in dash & tweeters on dash? Is it better to get custom-built door panels so that the originals can be refitted when selling the car minus the ice? And how does one modify the baffle in the stock location in the dash before fitting the midrange?
