| My car config:: Palio 1.2 Alpine 9846E HU Clarion 6X9 rear JBL Bass Tube Sony 4 Channel Amp I have connected the rear speakers & the bass tube to the amp... Yesterday i got two BOSS components installed in the front.. Sound is quite good...& i want to know if installing another 2 channel amp for the components would make a considerable difference....i dont mind spending another few bucks buying another amp... If yes then which amp : Sony is Sufficient or probably JBL,Alpine or Pioneer Last edited by Rehaan : 28th April 2007 at 23:18. Reason: "wud" = "would". Please type in full words. |

| Senior - BHPian | @k2max6, welcome to TBHP. That's quite an eclectic mix of equipment there. Unity in diversity, huh? Why BOSS comps? If they sound good to you, ok. Else, since you just got them installed yesterday, I'd suggest replacing them with a pair of better speakers (Hertz/JBL/Alpine/Blaupunkt). If you have some budget left, I'd suggest you you use them on better front speakers. With a 4-ch amp, the best thing to do is to power the fronts and the sub and not the rears and the sub. You can run the rears off the HU itself. If you do want another amp, what's your budget? JBL or Alpine or Pio will be fine. If you have the choice and the budget, don't get Sony. JBL's CS60.2 (6K/7K) or a Blau GTA275 (6K) would be good VFM buys. Dunno about Pio 2-ch amps. Alpines (if available in 2-ch) would be not less than 11-12K.

| Senior - BHPian | Even, i am suprised to see every component is a different brand . Hydrashok, if the clarion 6X9 is 300 watts, then the HU power wont support the rear speakers, so an amp is a must and Pio has also some VFM amps like the 6100/6200 K2max6, decide between, Pio 6100/6200, GTA-275 or JBL 60.2 and all these are around the same price range. Dont go for sony's for amp, for that matter anything sony is not as good as it used to be in ICE

If you already have the Sony maybe just a 60.2 will be ok to drive the fornt components esp if you get some nice components. I have not heard BOSS speakers so I cant comment on their sound. Besides remember evrything we say is our opinion. Your opinion will often differ. That is what makes us all unique.

I always take what most manufacturers mention as the output with a grain (well, a few kgs) of salt. Esp. when those figures tend to exceed 100w RMS at the entry-level-to-medium price range. 300w must be the max power output that speaker can handle for very short bursts. From the rest of the equipment in there, I'd assume that 6x9 rates a nominal of 40w RMS max. But that said, an amp would definitely make it sound wayyyyyy better than a HU.

| Senior - BHPian | ya it can......but he 20 watts will be having a distortion of 10% levels....which will be a bad thing for the tweeter.....but this 20 watts will come when the HU volume is cranked up to the 3/4 mark.....and are you gonna listen to his volume....... |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | Let me sum it for you. K2. (That rhymed!!) For free: Wire the components with the sub to the 4 channel amplifier. For a few thousand: Buy a cheap 2 channelamplifier and power the components. For about 10K: (This is your best option) buy a monoblock, to power the bass tube. Then use your 4 channel amplifier to drive the speakers. Remember to keep the fronts nice and loud and the HPF ON, cut to about 75-100Hz.

| Senior - BHPian | I have a query regarding tuning the components through HU. What settings in the HU have to be tweaked to manipulate the sound emanating from the comps? Also, i see something called SLA in my HU ( 6850), what in the world is this feature?
