I'm no guru when it comes to ICE, but I guess I can suggest something here. You get these portable DVD players with screens (I have a Panasonic with 9" screen) and they come with car adaptor kits and shock protection. Since you mentioned trays for laptops (I assume no one is going to use the laptop AND the screen at the same time ), having those small matching grroves for the DVD player may help them to choose between the DVD player and the laptop at any point of time. I guess they match most of your criteria since you mentioned moderate budget (my Panasonic player cost me 22k about 6 months ago in the grey market), earphone listening.

And I am still confused about the announcement part!

Viper,
You get these Dapic Screens with built in DVD players. You can mount them on the headrest with a mounting kit and it has head phone options. Also the sound can be transmitted to the HU by means of a FM transmitter. Its not bad. The cost for one such unit is about 25 -32K depending on screen size. You can buy the latest auto magazines and check out the DAPIC Advertisement. All the details are mentioned there. I bought such a unit for my E class as i didnt want any wire splicing or head rest cutting. They come with a car charger which can be plugged into a cigarette lighter and the unit is shock free. My unit rarely ever skipped. My unit was from a company from Netherlands called NEXTBASE. But DAPIC is offering the same unit in 6 or 7 inch. When i bought it 7 inch screen was the biggest. Now NEXTBASE has 8.5 inch and 10.2 inch screens too.
To check what the product looks like please go to this link.

Thanks a lot guys for all the suggestions. Main issue not yet resolved. Who will install and set it up in Mumbai.

@ Navin - You are right it will be configured for 2+2 seating only. All other seats will be removed.

@ Sam - As of now your suggestion looks to be the best.

First time you posted this I thoght it was a joke. Now I assume you are serious. Viper you know more installers in Mumbai than anyuone. I am confused?

BTW this job (if it to be done well) should be done by someone who can lock the car in a shed over night (what with screens etc..). That narrows the choices down some. Why not call Bharat and ask them. Actually I think this is a 2 part job.

a) you first configure all the wiring layouts yourself (along witht eh ICE installer) and take to car to a someone who can do a good job making it ai 2+2. Someone like Team Motor works in Santacruz can do this.

b) take the newly upholstered car to the ICE installer (someone like Bharat in Worli) and do the needful. BTW Priyesh at Lakozy has also started car installs. For more we can move to PM.
