Hi Guys,

I have a requirement from a client which I am listing below. Need to know if it is possible to incorporate, how much would it cost and who would be able to excecute the same in Mumbai only. The car in question is a Tata Safari and will be made into a 4 seater i.e. front 2 and rear 2 only.

Entertainment :

To enable 3 passengers to have choice of music and video. by providing audio
option output with individual screens. Would like to provide audio through ear phones. there should also be a provision for speakers for announcements etc.

Accessories :

multi option laptop chargers, multiple port mobile chargers, refrigrator,
cup holders on the arm rest, extendable tray for laptop from the arm rest, individual reading lights.

Would like your valuable suggestions and answers at the earliest. Kindly suggest the cheapest method as well as a medium priced method to incorporate the above.

To me, the easiest and best option is to provide 3 video Ipods, connected to LCD screens. I cannot think of a simpler way to do this.

The iPods need to be connected to permanent chargers. Once every few months, one can remove them and reload new music/movies.

Speakers for Announcements? in a Tata safari where the passengers are next to the driver?

Ah, unless you mean on the outside, where the driver can announce to the public using a mic "In this car are 3 people with 3 individual choices of music and video... take a look at them enjoying life, as we drive by"

Or give each of them a psp2, they can even play games, apart from DVDs & music.

iPod screens would be far too small for this application IMO.

Best set up would be 2 screens in the headrest of the front seats for the rear passengers that get their input from their own DVD players installed in a fabricated center console between the 2 rear seats.

Each seat would have a headphone outlet in their armrest (like on a plane) along with a remote to operate their DVD and screen.

The third screen could be a pop up unit installed in the dashboard. Or a flip down unit on the headliner.

It can be done in various configurations. If he needs to retain the boot then he can go the Innova way and have captain seats in the second row.

Optionally he could go for a bench seat in the last row where the boot gate is but doing this will involve sacrificing the boot.

I think Sam's suggestion is the best. If you can provide proper iPod docks, the passenger can even use their own iPods if they bring those along. Else they can use the iPods provided in the car. This way each entertainment unit will work separately.

Viper I assume you mean the 3 passengers will be 1 front and 2 rear. The 4th person will a driver who will NOT have access to the entertainment.

One screan on each headrest and one on integrated into the dash above the glove compartment.

If you want to go one step further get 3 Aura Bass shakers or Sumokoo Buttkickers and integerate these into the 3 seats. It wont provide bass but it will provide entertainment.

Still you could one step further and provide an ipod capable DVD HU/changer with 4 door speakers and 2 compact sub 8" subs i the rear (configured like Gunbir's CRV install) in case the driver is travelling alone.

Many LCD screens have the provision for 2 inputs. Hence you can even route the video of the DVD HU to the 3 LCD screens. The user of the LCD screen can choose to see the DVD on the HU or his/her ipod.

Sams video ipod idea is the best...it will ensure everyone is entertained seperately.

a standard car system is the best if driver is travelling alone

Sumokoo buttkickers are excellent stuff...no bass same effect...great idea

Thanks a ton guys now main question who will execute this for me in Mumbai and what will it cost me. Dont need price for the Ipod, for everything else(screens, cabling, installations etc) need pricing.

By the way, SAM's idea is the best. By the way, I am not sure about the wheather Viper requires Video on Demand kind of application.

Being working in Audio Infotainment, I have heard about the HU with simultaneous playback (DVD playback from optical drive for Rear output along with LCD & Audio only playback in front from USB or Hard Disk for the Front).

But to still to heard about the application like Viper is mentioning.

I don't think the rear seating of the safari is 2 independent units. If it's joned, then one persons buttkicker will kick the other guys butt too.

Imagine if one guy's listening to enya and the other is watching Spiderman.

I thought viper said the car will be configured for 2+2 only.
