OFF TOPIC

Sirs , can we use this meter to measure the exhaust noise levels of a car.
Have to test the noise level of our FSAE car, the rule is that it should be below 110dB

LBM, I think your system can damage your ears. 130db is awful loud. 140db is insane.

Does the meter offer A,B,C weighting? At $30 it is a ok buy if it does not but really a good buy if it does.

harsh, to measure exhaust levels in the rage of 85db+ you need to have a meter that is C weighted as per U.S govt. standards (as i remember them).

Yes sir 140 db is insane...the whole body vibrates ...even the eyeball vibrate....what do I say even the throat vibrate and one feel nausea after listing to that high volumes......and yes it is crazy to hear it at high volumes.....that`s why BOOM RESPONSIBLY......lol

The Spl meter I am having offers A,C weighting only.....no B here....

Adequate. Most SPL meters do not offer B. Old analog ones sometimes do. B weighting is really useful for soft human voices from 70-85db.

yes sir....here is a very nie topic about different weighting for measuring of sound....

Weighting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Weighting curve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the A-weighting is for 3–6 kHz where the human ear is most sensitive and the B,C-weighting go for loud sources like aircraft engine, LBM`s ICE...lol

and the one used in iasca type of compitions it is X-weighted it is the combination of different weighting...

here is a graph in which one can compare the weighting level in db scales...

LBM, every time you find stuff like this I am surprised by both your perseverance and the power of the internet. In my days we relied on our memories and reference books. How the world has changed.

Nuwud MDF 12mm thickness comes in 4 qualities. Prices per sq ft are Rs 28, Rs 33, Rs 40 & Rs 50. Thinking of replacing my Santro door-pads with one of these if possible.
