| How do one go about and determine which is the best optimal HPF and LPF setting for car audio setup. What are the factors affecting this ? .while tuning this what all factors or other settings should be taken in to consideration? I know listening and trying out diffent setting is the best way but any guide lines ,suggestions before doing this task would be help ful .. I tried searching the old threads but all says different settings ... I have the following setup for my wagonr. HU -6950 ib front- boston 4.25" compos. amp - jbl 60.4 rear - jbl 937 sub- jbl |

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | prashant, I'm assuming you have gone through the glossary and know what HPF/LPF means. Now, your HU has one HPF setting for front AND Rear speakers. That poses an issue. Your front speakers are 4" while your rears are 6x9s. The problem is that the rears can take more bass then the fronts. So if you set HPF considering the rears (say 80Hz) the fronts might distort. And if you set HPF considering the fronts (say 100 or 125Hz), you will get no usable low bass output from your rears. I suggest you run the 4" components off the amp. If you are already doing this, then set the HPF at the HU to 80Hz and the LPF to 80Hz as well. On your amp, the channels used for the front comps will have a HPF as well. Enable that (may be set to bypass/off) and set it at 100Hz or so. On the other set of channels that are running the sub, let the filter be on bypass/off.

| Senior - BHPian | since your is a 695O you can indepenedtly cross the speakers as you wish...for the 4 inch driver I would choose 100 or 125Hz and for the oval I would go for 80Hz ...and for the sub 80 hz is good one..... these are ideal settings which works good for nearly maJor setups...... |

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | LBM, do you have a special edition 6950 with you that has separate HPF for front and rear? Cuz the regular 6950 that us mere mortals buy, doesn't!!! Please read the other posts...

If you know what the amp gains (level knobs) are, please ensure they are set somewhere under 50% level. Cheers.

| BHPian | Can someone let me know the best settings for my amp too..I have a M800 with Alpine 690A (6x9, 3-way coaxials) on the rear hatch. Front RF tweeters connected to HU (Alpine 9846E). Amp is JBL CS60.4. Sub is 8" Polk Audio. Y splitter is used to connect inputs to the amp since my HU has one pre out only. |

| Can somebody please tell me how to tune my system? I have Pio 4950 and JBL compos in the front and coaxials in the back. I like clarity, moderate bass and not too much ching ching from the tweeters. Please help. I like various genres of Rock, occasional Rap. Atleast where to start? There must be a method to the madness, no? |
