Default ICE for the big boy!

hi fellas

my boss has a scorpio which he FINALLY wants all ICE'd up!! He has already purchased a Pioneer DVD HU for around 16k from some guy he knows. he didnt know the model number of the HU. he has also got a 10.2" necvox roof mounted screen.

he now requires a good sound setup to give him a car theater experience. i know SUV's aren't the best for a good ICE setup but i just want watever best can be done within a 20k budget.

he is open to all suggestions.

To get a cinema real experience, he might need DSPs & 5.1 channel setup, which is not possible in a 20k setup. My suggestion would be
1. Front components (JBL)
2. 4 Channel Amp (Pio or Sony)
3. rear coaxials (JBL)
4. 12" Sub (Pio 306)
I dont know the model numbers for the JBLs, others can help you there. But even this setup could exceed the 20k budget.

Well he definitely needs to amplify all 4 speakers and the subwoofer. Needs atleast 5 channels of amplificiation for that one.
Lets say he buys speakers, front and rear (he's gonna be in the rear seat right?, no need for compos then)
That will cost about 7 grand.
A subwoofer (he can go in for a bass tube) about 6500/-
Now he needs a 4 channel and a monoblock. Overbudget, overbudget.

Aren't there any decent 5-channel amps @ less than 4-channel + monoblock?

Thats what ICE section is famous for!!

As esteem and sam have rightly said that u need sophisticated equipment for cinema type sound and since budget is 20K, your boss can buy a Creative Computer wala 5.1 channel muzzic system with built in amp for app 4.5K and hang the speakers in the big boy as we normally do it in our rooms, with sub in the boot. This would give a 5.1 sound, but probably wont be too audible. So, lets do something like this....your boss can go to a local car accesory wala and ask for similar to:

Front: Pio 6.5" Co-ax (app 1.5K)
Rear: Pio 6 X 9 (app 2.5K)
Amp: Sony 222 for front and rear (app 3K)
Amp: Silicon 4 channel (app 6K) for the pair of subs (in bridged mode)
Sub: Pio 306 SVC X 2 (app 7K)
Desi Box (peti - 2 boofer wali): app 500
Labour & Taar : app 300 (since you'll buy everything from him)

Total: 20800

See, I've also gone overbudget.

Panky how can a sony 222 can run front and rear together ...I would suggest to get one more silicon 4 channel or wire the rear from the HU and front from the 222 or vice-versa

LBM though not correct....running each Front and Rear speaker parallel via each channel to present a 2 ohm load, i know its not 2 ohm stereo stable, but nothing happens....I'd been myself running 2 pairs AND a desi sub in bridged mode at the same time few years back. Nothing happened to my amp....its still working fine... yes, u need to change the fuse from 15A to 25A though!! This'd been the ideal "budget set up" a few years back.

even today i see young guyz asking at car accessory walahs, bhaiya....yeh alpine 4 channel, 2 pio 307 DVC uthha lega kya??
Guy poses as if he's an expert....Arrey! bhai sahab maine original peti mein 3 lagaye the us zen mein, woh hain naa amit ka dost, arrey wohi jiske paas kali indica hai 2150 wali....usme bus thoda sa trip mar gaya tha! mere ko lagta hai 2 to aaram se kheenchega!! le lo!

Trying to match panky:

Front: Pio 6.5" Co-ax (app 1.5K) from what panky said
Rear: Pio 6 X 9 (app 2.5K) from what panky said
Sony 4 ch amp for the speakers (app 4K)
Sony 4 ch amp for the subs, but replace this with something better if possible
2 nos. EFX/Pioneer 12" subs (app 6K)
Wiring (app 1K)
Box for the subs and rear speakers (1K)

Total: 20K
The install i'm assuming would be FOC if you're going to buy all this stuff from one place.

This should mostly make for some budget boom. I stroll by the ICE forum when i'm bored

manson.

manson, silicon will do the amplifying part for the subs better than sony 4 channel anyday. No need to spend 1K on the wires.

How can you install rear speakers and 2 boofers in one readymade box? it can either accomodate 2 boofers or 2 ovals (6X9) and 1 boofer only. I think the big boy must have the rear parcel tray to mount the 6 X 9's. If not, he can go in for one, costing less than 500 Rs.

Panky, parcel tray in a scorpio?????
And, i have seen a custom made box to accomodate rear ovals and two subs quite often when ICE was not as serious, maybe its not considered good anymore or probably never was
