No offence to the gurus but how come no one recommends boston acoustics, polk audio, rockford fosgate, mtx audio etc...
Is it just that they are too expensive and not vfm or are they just bad ?
It is no offense at all!

In my belief, all brands that make specialist speakers, make good speakers. Companies that ALSO make speakers, apart from HU's etc, are one notch below.

Out of your list, I think Polk Momo makes terrific speakers BTW. As do Boston. Personally RF makes good subwoofers but I don't like the sound of their speakers and MTX products are not my taste at all.

All brands are good. Good equipment, with good installation is a must. Remember, a badly installed Steg amplfier with Infinity speakers, can sound even worse than a Sony set up.

I know people here recommend brands they use. It happens. Often people that give advice here, asked for advice a few months ago. Their experience is not much.

Remember one thing, there truly is a big, BIG world of audio out there, life is not limited to Hertz and JBL alone.

This ICE section needs to realise this fact.

Unfortunately the advice doled out, is often limited to experience. And in India, experience is limited to what you, or your friends own. Some brands are poorly distributed, are hard to get. Brands like Sony, Pioneer are available everywhere. Brands like JBL are almost everywhere, but not as easily as Pioneer. Brands like Polk and RF are not easily available at all. This influences the buyer as well. The degree of representation in India, the extent of the distribution, the after sales service etc.

Please don't ever feel that other brands are not appreciated. We're interested in ALL brands.

Even if someone has a review on Dhoom speakers, I'm most interested too. Really.

There is a lot beyond JBL and Hertz. It is time that "Polk and Boston" and such brands are not considered "audiophile" products. Someday we will graduate beyond "Polk and Boston" too. And I will know then that audio has arrived in India.

A far as the case for and Indian brand. If there ever is an Indian car audio brand that could sock it to Polk, Boston, Harman (forget about ScanSpeak, Focal, Morel, Dynaudio, DLS etc..) I'd get all 3 cars in my family rewired with their products. I wish (and sometimes expect) it to happen in my lifetime.

Guys like Ajay (B&T) tickle my soft spot. I have told him so in private and will say so in public "all thoseof you under 30 involved in the indian audio scence are doing us all a huge favour". I know for certain someone with Ajay's credentials (I have not see other biodatas) could have "gone IT" and earned 3 or 5 times what they do in Audio. I resect their decision to follow their heart. Sometimes I wonder if I did. It is men like Ajay will one day be instrumental in making an Indian brand that can "sock it to the rest".

Navin Sir well said. I keep comming back to ICE section to read their arguments and to a novice like me it makes sense. I guess it is not brands but the purpose and the solution they look at. They are firm in their beliefs and also ready to learn. I do hope one day soon we can do away with heavy import duties and have Made in India / Designed in India products in our cars and Homes.

There was time when there was only Pioneer woofer that also only free air model and the helmet speaker the pioneer 2150 along with the mighty TS-20 tweeters in the front....in all the cars it was only this setup with Pioneer 904 amp or the AMEZ one...even my first amp was a AMEZ but it was very long back...but the point I wanna say here is that the audio industry is coming in a big way to India and people here are to be educated about it till then every thing will be a waste....and Guys like AJAY Bhai are doing a fantastic job .....hats off to them. and best of luck

what else are you getting for $140? the MMC are not bad at all. For Rs. 6000 ($140) you wont get anything in India that is close.

This is the same model about which I had asked some time back in "audio advice..." thread, good to know that it is kind of "approved"! When I searched ebay (then), other attractive offering I could find was Alpine type-R (and with some more money type-X).

santosh....be careful while buying off ebay US....many a times, its refurbished and B stock, i've personally experienced this.

Check sellers credentials first and make sure you review each feedback received as a seller.

makes sense, as it's your (or your DADs) hard earned money.

It is earned by me (not sure if I can really add that word "hard" though)... but I definitely credit my DAD for working hard to make me worth earning something. BTW, I have grown up in a house without any music system, without electricity for that matter

The price for the polk speakers is very good. the Infinity amp price is average for US prices. In India it is not sold at all but if it were it's sell for Rs. 25K+.
