Smile Compatible amplifier with pioneer 6950ib

Hi Guys,

I have a pioneer 6950ib HU with pioneer TS-520 tweeters and alpine v12 f586 amp. can anyone of u gurus suggest a better amp for my system. This system i have installed in my swift and the tweeties are tweeting too much which really gets on my nerves. The gain on the am is switched to flat and channels treble bass are also off.

Do you guys also think putting a 6 way amp would be better or one 4 way and 2 way would be a better option.

Please bear with my knowledge as i am in my transition of becoming a sound guru.

Thanx in advance.

1. What other speakers do you have other than the TS20?
2. I have never heard of a F586 but have hard of the F450, F345, F540 and some other models.
3. a 6 ch. amp (or for that matter a 5 ch. amp) will be slightl ymore expensive than a similarly speced 4ch+mono or 4ch+stereo amp. This is usually due to the low volumes of these that are made. The only real advantage of these 5-6 ch. amps is that it makes for a neat look. The JBL 755.6, Audison Lrx5 or is it Srx5, Infinity 5350a and Blaupunkt THA 555 are some that you can consider.
4. If you have other speakers why not discard them TS20 altogether. They are quite harsh.

I think the problem is not as much with your source or amplifier, as much as it is with those Pioneer tee-esssssssssss-twenteeeee!

Get rid of those. And let us know what other speakers you have in the car, just like navin says.

Your amp is a fake, mate. Dump the amp and the tweeters and get better stuff.

I like Russians! They're red and some are hot too!

@Abhi2twelve, Your amp seems very much like fake one. And when you couple it with those HORRIBLE Teeeeeeeeeeeeee Essssssssssssss 20s, you get 10,000 tin cans filled with titanium pin nails rolling all at a time inside you car cabin with some Christmas bells added and there is nothing much to be done but throw those tins away. Yes, it deserves a better place than your car's interiors. Keep it near your apartment door to scare those annoying salesmen away.

Get yourself some good component speakers for the front doors and let the rear speakers stay for a while. We will upgrade it later or do you want to, now?
If you want to really change the amp now, then get a respectable 4 channel amp with some good stable power output from a famous brand (Preferably, with Bill & Warranty) and add it to your system.
Fronts can be powered with the 2 channels of the amp and the other 2 channels may power the sub.

This just a beginning of your ICE woes! We haven't got know your budget yet na!

Wise decision! Get some good component speakers in place of the tweeties. You can select from JBL 607C/Blaupunkt sumthing/Hertz DSK165. Try out a demo and buy the one which suits you best.

JBL CS60.4 comes to my mind first. Then there is that famous Pioneer 544 (Hope the model no is right) and the Blaupunkt 4 channel amp which puts out 60W X4. All good VFM models.

it is the pioneer 944 (75 x 4 at 4 ohms and 250 x 2 at 4 ohms)

you can get a second hand for approx 6-8k range.

I think zak meant the SONY 554 which retails for 4-5K.

From what I can see you have a 12" sub and a pair of 6x9 in the rear deck. all you have in the front are a pair of TS20 which you intend to discard.

I would suggest you install a pair of 6" coax for the front. A good pair will cost you 3K. Then install the Sony 554 for 5K.

Get 2 nice pairs of RCA cable (does your HU have 2 pre outs?) and connect the sub and front coax to the HU. Use the HU to power the 6x9 in the rear.
