Default Best place for ICE in Singapore

Hello!

I really dont know if posted in right section.

Anyways, can somebody tell me a place to buy cheap and original HU in Singapore? No probs even if without B&W...dunno if it'll hold an international warranty!

Sim Lim Square, rochor canal road for the latest & the best.

If the same is available in Mustafa Centre, it is bound to be a little cheaper.
happy shopping

They are available in Mustafa but AFAIK you have to be wary, for, this is one product range that they do not extend the international warranty for most of the brands. So check on the clause and see if India is a country where the manufacturers warranty is extended. Also I do not think you could check the piece that you are buying (ICE - HU) at Mustafa.

Sim Lim square you'll get conned easily and loads and loads of fakes. A better bet is Sim Lim towers who have more car Audio stuff this is opposite Sim Lim square.

Also, another good place is High street centre near Clarke quay MRT on north bridge road.

The cheapest more often than not is Naranjan trading on Race course road. No B&W but original stuff. Only thing very crwoded. It's close to Mustafa parallel to Serangoon road.

I would suggest to get from Mustafa and avail of the GST refund for expensive HU as othe rplaces you have to do a bit of running around for GST refund.

Little India is off the Rochor Canal Road. Sim Lim is on the Rochor Canal Road. I have had excellent experience in Sim Lim square & so have all my friends & family. I have bought everything from a HT to a CD only in sim lim square. Sim Lim towers is also another place to consider as suggested by vid. You are more likely to be conned in Little India (they love to con you indians, LOL). Mustafa is in Little India (Serangoon), but you may not find a lot of choices there.

GST = G????Service/Singapore tax

Vid, now what is that? What I could infer was that you go to a place, buy with this GST; and apply for a refund for GST. Am i right? Can u please shed some light on this? Is it a tedious process?

GST = goods & Services Tax.

It's 5% currently but i believe there was a hike to 7-8% in june. Not sure.

Yup you pay GST whn you buy but when you leave singapore apply for a refund.

Mustafa has a GST refund counter in the basement. Basically you buy $300 or more during your whole visit from mustafa and you are eligible for refund from them. You go to the counter with the bills and they give you a form to fill. You will need your passport as well. You will then get a receipt from them which you need to deposit at the airport after checking in, in the mailbox. Then after a month you will get a cheque of teh gst refund amount.

If you dont buy from such places then you have to fill the form at the airport before checking in and show them all the stuff you bought which is a pain.

EL is right Panky. Sim Lim Square was my favorite haunt in Sing... Sadly now its gone to the dogs. Mostly IT stuff with only a handful of shops selling audio. On the ground floor you will find shops like Edison Electronics, Ban Leong Bros, Pin Liang and a couple more. Please know that most of these shops cater to tourists who will generally buy the usual Pioneer stuff. They don't have much quality stuff (except one of the above shops, Edison I think) as most of the distributors sit in their offices and cater to specialist installers and re-export market. Try haggling for your price but know your limits.

What exactly are you looking for...

Edison are known but there prices are substantially higher. They dont like haggling with tourists. Extremely rude.

They tried to sell me a pio aux to RCA cable for $80. when i said it's too much they started shouting at saying what do you think it will cost you $20 it's all original stuff. I asked then why is it loose and no packing. he said we buy in bulk from korea and what not. I just walked off and the guy kept shouting.

I went across the road to sim lim towers picked up a nice one for $25 after bargaining from $35.
